DESCRIPTION

Partnering with the City of St. Petersburg and The Florida Orchestra, ARC3 Architecture designed a transformative expansion to the Duke Energy Center for the Arts / Mahaffey Theater. The multi-level facility seamlessly integrates highly specialized technical logistics with inspiring artistic spaces, positioning the waterfront district as a premier cultural epicenter.

The program optimizes back-of-house operations on the first floor with an expanded loading dock, wardrobe, and workshops tailored for world-class touring productions. The upper levels transition into a dedicated corporate headquarters for the orchestra on the second level, featuring its comprehensive music library and an acoustically optimized rehearsal hall on the third level. The project is crowned by a spectacular rooftop terrace designed for open-air performances and community events against the waterfront backdrop.
